The liner notes from the script of Twelve Angry Men describe the play as a “blistering character study and an examination of the American melting pot and the judicial system that keeps it in check.” In this highly charged jury room drama, it is Juror Eight (played by Brian Sohovich, making his on-stage debut) who holds a clear-eyed perception of the case against an 11 to 1 guilty vote that will have a life-changing impact on the accused young man. This landmark American drama is centered on writer Reginald Rose’s deeply held faith in our judicial system. Its first showing was a one-hour television play that was adapted for the stage in 1954. The 1957 Oscar-nominated film, starring Henry Fonda, is likely the most well known presentation of the story.
The Law Office of Bill J. Baity, Jr. is the sponsor of Twelve Angry Men. Baity said, “I am looking forward to Theatre! Statesville’s provocative portrayal of the American judicial system in Twelve AngryMen.”
