Theatre! Statesville Needs YOU!

Auditions are open to everyone.

Theatre! Statesville encourages anyone with an interest in performing to audition for our productions. We have an open door casting policy, meaning you do not need previous experience with us, or a special "in" to be cast. In fact, we are looking for both the novice and the experienced actor. This is true community theatre and we want you to play a part (pun intended).

All of our auditions consist of “cold readings” from the scripts. That means you will be asked to read some of the dialog from the show, sometimes with other people sometimes by yourself. Don’t worry if you stumble over words, we’re looking for energy and character choices, we assume you can read. Relax and have fun. Auditions do not have to be a painful process, just look at it as another chance to perform. Come prepared to list all your schedule conflicts from the day of auditions until the closing performance of the show.

Auditions for The Amen Corner

By James Baldwin

Directed by Perry Lackey

For years Sister Margaret Alexander has moved her Harlem congregation with a mixture of personal charisma and ferocious piety.  But when Margaret's estranged husband, a scapegrace jazz musician, comes home to die, she is in danger of losing both her standing in the church and the son she has tried to keep on the godly path.

Time:  6:00 - 7:30 p.m.
Location:  Mitchell Community College Continuing Education Auditorium - 701 W. Front Street
