Theatre Statesville Needs YOU!

Theatre Statesville presents

We're partnering with the City of Statesville and the Downtown Statesville Development Corp. (who also put on the wildly popular Haunted Statesville Ghost Tour every year!) to add some zest to the holiday offerings which bring folks to the Downtown area in December. We describe the production as a "progressive play". This unique format will have scenes from the beloved story performed at various Downtown locations. Each tour group will be led by its own Narrator as they follow Ebenezer Scrooge through his night of reckoning with the three Spirits of Christmas. Each group will have their own Scrooge, who travels with them to maintain the continuity of their experience of the story. The shows will take place December 8,9,15,16 and will begin at 6:30pm. There will be five tours of 20 people each, spaced every half hour.

As you can imagine, a show of this magnitude, stretched across nearly a dozen inside and outside locations Downtown, will require more cast and crew members than anything we’ve done so far. Including multiples of Scrooge and Bob Cratchit, there will be nearly 30 speaking parts, 20 non-speaking parts and one carol singing/musical group. Nine of the roles are children, some speaking, some not. We will require at least 5-6 tour guide/Narrators and 5-6 non-speaking assistant tour guides to help them, 6 stage managers, and around 12 stage hands for set-up and take-down each evening.

AUDITIONS for this show will take place October 9th & 10th at 7pm at OUR NEW SPACE in downtown Statesville, 224 North Center Street, beside Special Treasures. In addition to actors, we will be in need of techs and support for this show. If you are interested in being on the ground floor of a production team making cutting edge theatre in our area, drop in during auditions and speak with our production crew to get signed up!

Auditions are open to everyone.

Theatre Statesville encourages anyone with an interest in performing to audition for our productions.

Please arrive promptly at the start of the audition time. You do not need to attend both nights.  Auditionees will be reading from the script.
For musicals, prepare a song you feel confident in singing. Try to select a song that is the same style as the show for which you are auditioning. (Melodic songs like show tunes, church music, folk songs, etc. are better than jazzy pop songs.) Bring sheet music if possible; no recorded accompaniment.
There may be dancing or improvisation as part of the audition. Please dress in clothes you can move in. Please, no flip-flops. Please look carefully at the performance dates. Being in a show at Theatre Statesville requires a great time commitment. If you will only take a larger or smaller role because of your own time concerns, or if you are auditioning for just the experience, you are WELCOME!--but please let the director know your intentions.
